About Lena's Grant
The West Jackson Fire District created the Deputy Lena Nicole Marshall Preparedness Grant to celebrate the life and dedication of the late Jackson County sheriff’s deputy killed in the line of duty. The tragic loss of Deputy Marshall on Nov. 8, 2021, greatly impacted responding public safety personnel and the Jackson County community. The mission of “Lena’s Grant” is to better protect, strengthen and develop local first responders and their respective agencies.
Community donations and the West Jackson Fire District contribute to the grant, which is open to all government public safety agencies in Jackson County. Funds assist with the cost of tactical gear, apparel, equipment and training. Awards are announced each year on Nov. 8.

2024 Grant Awards:

Jackson Trail Fire Department, $4,019, six ballistic vests, six ballistic helmets, six trauma triage kits
