Lieutenant Shannon Martin has been with the West Jackson Fire Department since 2005. She started out as a volunteer firefighter before moving to part time. In 2013 she became a full-time firefighter with the department. During that time, she became a Fire Apparatus Operator and an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. She was also active on the bike team for many years.

Lieutenant Martin has been the department's Fire Marshal since August of 2017 when she obtained her International Code Council Fire Inspector 1 certification. She was promoted to Lieutenant in January of 2024.

Her love of helping people started when she was just 11 years old and joined a co-ed program through the Boys Scouts of America called Learning for Life. This program allowed children to explore different careers at an early age and learn alongside Police, Fire, and EMS personnel. She was in this program for over 10 years, eventually becoming a teacher in the program herself.

She currently works part time for the department. Spending her days off assisting at an animal sanctuary and running her own farm in Greene County where she resides with her son. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and rescue animals. She also enjoys hiking and archery.
